Hello and welcome!

I am excited about starting my GTCHS journey this year and looking forward to teaching both seniors and freshmen. I grew up in Summerville, SC and attended The Citadel in the fall of 1996...along with the first female graduates. In 2000, I graduated with a degree in Social Studies Education and began teaching in my home district of Dorchester District II. After 6 years in public education and after the events of 9/11/2001, I took a position writing and conducting homeland security exercises for both SC and maritime ports across the country.  I also spent a little over a year at the USCG Maritime Law Enforcement Academy writing curriculum. In 2009, my wife graduated from pharmacy school at MUSC and accepted a job in Greenville. I spent approximately 8 years as the training specialist for a local software company. I returned to the classroom in 2017 at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic School to teach middle and high school history. I am excited about bringing my various experiences and methods to GTCHS and working with students to become more engaged citizens!

Along with teaching, I also work part-time as a firefighter. I enjoy the camaraderie found in the fire service and service to others.  I am an avid soccer fan and during the early hours of Saturday mornings I watch all the English Premier League games I can! I am a HUGE Liverpool FC! YNWA
