Welcome to my website! My name is Creg McAda (my last name is pronounced like the insect "cicada") and I am a graduate of Clemson University. This will be my 7th year of teaching, and my second year at GTCHS. I am a native of San Antonio, TX, although by now I have lived in South Carolina for most of my life. I moved to the Upstate as a teenager, graduating from Travelers Rest HS. It goes without saying that I love literature, reading, and writing, but beyond the classroom I am most often found outdoors. I love hiking, kayaking, and camping in the beautiful wilderness areas of our region, and I also enjoy gardening and carpentry when I'm closer to home. I live with my wife, Sara, and our two dogs and cat in Easley, SC. Regardless of the path my students have in mind for their futures, I know that the skills of my classroom will serve them well. I believe that the study of literature and language offers not only access to the security of a career but also a place of refuge in a world that resists that which cannot produce profit. My goal is that students will leave my classroom prepared to achieve their goals in life without forgetting what it truly means to live.
