I want students to enter with open minds and a willingness to learn. Students are expected to act in a professional manner by meeting deadlines, solving problems, cooperating with classmates, and generally contributing in a positive way to the class. My goal is to not only teach the subject content but prepare students to work in their future field of study which will require them to search for solutions in a group context. Teamwork, listening, empathy, enthusiasm, emotional maturity, respect, and consideration of other people’s concerns are all essential to success. My expectation is that students bring these qualities and values to class. It is as important to “practice” these interpersonal skills as it is to learn new intellectual content and related skills.
