GTCHS Health Room
The Health Room is designed to be a station to care for minor illnesses or injuries that occur at school; we also administer medication in the absence of the parent and work in conjunction with an RN to develop Individual Health Plans as needed. The coordinator, Mrs. Shew, is certified in CPR/AED/First Aid.
In accordance with state law, NO medications, whether prescription or over the counter, may be carried on a student’s person on campus. This includes Tylenol (acetaminophen) and Advil (ibuprofen) and antihistamines. Carrying unauthorized medications can lead to suspension and even expulsion.
All students must have a health form turned in by the first day of school. Note that the form is two sided.
For students with permission for self-medication or who have permission to carry a medical device, a physician and parent permission must be placed on file at the beginning of each school year.
Field trip medication permission form need to be turned into health room for approval at least three days before school trip.
Please keep the health room informed of any changes to your child’s health so we can be better prepared should there be an emergency.
Here’s to a happy, healthy school year!
