Criminal law and Juvenile Justice
Torts
Consumer and Housing Law
Family Law
Rights in the Community
A speakers’ listing is being developed for a bi-monthly Q and A session. The South Carolina Bar Association and the Department of Juvenile Justice have offered to recommend area speakers to address topics of relevance throughout the year. Guest speakers will be invited to the Friday extended time classes. Parents are always welcome to attend and participate.
Students will be required to keep a journal for both reflective writing and daily questions and observations.
Grades will be based on informal and formal assessments. Quizzes, projects, reflective writing assignments and participation in classroom discussions will make up the majority of the grading criteria. Unit tests and student journals will make up the remainder of the grading criteria.
Students whose tests or general grade average falls below an 80% will be required to attend Academic Assistance on Tuesday afternoons, with retesting on Fridays.
